About Ellen

Greetings and thank you for visiting my web site. I have lived and worked in NYC and its boroughs for over thirty-five years. Fresh from college, I gravitated to the stage where I spent nearly a decade doing off-off Broadway plays and no-budget films. I then attended NYU’s graduate film program where I made several short films—shot on 16mm and edited on the steenbeck—and racked up a massive student loan. With the realization that film production was not for me, I supported myself as a graphic designer while wondering what creative path to pursue before having kids. A freelance job landed me in the art department of a children’s picture book publisher where I immediately fell in love with the form. Two kids later, I am thrilled to have finally finished my website and call myself an illustrator. Recently, I moved to Harlem where I live with my jazz-pianist husband, two awesome daughters and our Tuxedo cat who serves as my muse.
